Bohemian, Earthy, Rustic & Whimsical was the vision from the start for this pre-wedding event.
An evening filled with glitter, macrame, confetti & henna. An abundance of delicious food, great music and all their loved ones brought together to celebrate the beautiful bride.
When my sister asked me to design her wedding stationery in April 2024, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to use our planet-friendly stationery. She entrusted me with her stationery and also to plan her Sangeet event. For those of you who don’t know what a Sangeet event is, it’s an Indian event before the wedding with all your friends & family, great food, music and good vibes. It’s a bit like a pre-wedding reception.
The Venue
Set against the rustic charm of The Great Barn in Harrow, this celebration was a stunning fusion of boho elegance and joyful energy. The venue’s historic wooden beams and spacious interiors provided the perfect canvas for an unforgettable evening of creativity, culture, and celebration.
The Decor
The Dana Ray Designs truly brought the bohemian theme to life. Every detail was thoughtfully styled—from the mirror welcome sign that greeted guests with a touch of whimsy, to the tipi photo booth that became a guest favourite. The space was adorned with delicate pampas grass in vibrant coloured vases, creating a soft, dreamy aesthetic that flowed beautifully throughout the barn.
The Entertainment
Adding to the vibrant atmosphere was a henna artist, who intricately decorated guests’ hands with stunning designs, blending tradition with a relaxed festival vibe. Meanwhile, Glitter Bar London sprinkled a bit of magic into the night with their signature sparkle—offering guests shimmering face and body embellishments that caught the light and added a playful, enchanted touch to the festivities.
A sangeet celebration is always brimming with excitement, laughter, and music — a prelude to the magic that’s about to unfold on the wedding day. But one element that truly elevated the evening and left everyone spellbound was the mesmerizing Indian classical dance performance by the talented Bespoke the company.
No celebration is complete without great food, and Empire Catering delivered an incredible feast that left everyone raving. Their delicious menu was full of flavour and flair, perfectly complementing the mood of the evening. The dance floor came alive thanks to DJ Pav, whose energetic set had guests dancing late into the night.
From start to finish, the event was a celebration of beauty, artistry, and joy—an unforgettable night at one of Harrow’s most picturesque venues.
Details of the Sangeet stationery
For the boho sangeet, the beautifully curated stationery set combined the earthy elegance with minimalistic designs, setting the perfect tone for a pre-wedding celebration.
The confetti table plan is a stunning feature — seating assignments on speckled confetti paper made with biodegradable confetti. This created a celebratory feel, while still maintaining a natural, eco-friendly vibe. This unique table plan was hung delicately on a macrame display, adding texture and movement. The soft fibres of the macrame complement the wild, free-spirited boho aesthetic, while the gold stand beneath it grounds the design with a hint of luxe, elevating the overall look.
Each place card was equally thought-out — crafted from luxurious textured seeded paper that features wildflower seeds embedded within the material. This clever touch not only aligned with the boho theme but also encourages guests to take home a little piece of nature. The paper can be planted and, in time, will grow into a beautiful wildflower, creating a lasting memory of the special event. The seeded paper’s texture and soft, earthy colours highlight the rustic charm, making each card a small work of art in its own right.
The minimal typography throughout ensured that the natural beauty of the materials took centre stage — the fine, delicate text doesn’t compete with the paper’s organic beauty, but instead complements it, letting the texture, color, and embedded seeds shine.
